Mark Stump
Mark graduated from the VSF in 1948. As a student he was, among other things, noted for being a determined footballer, and a strong swimmer.
His postings with the FCV included Assessment Branch, Powelltown, Forrest, Mansfield, Nowa Nowa, and Corryong. He was appointed District Forest Officer (DFO) at Daylesford on 5/10/1962; DFO Bright 28/09/1967; and DFO Castlemaine 22/10/1971. Among other things he is remembered by colleagues for processing both a serious disposition and an unwavering sense of duty.
In retirement at Castlemaine, Mark conducted early morning swimming classes for several years, for which he, and his wife, Valerie, received civic recognition. Later he became immersed in family history, identifying multiple convict forebears in Tasmania, and he succeeded in tracing his lineage back to the middle 1600s.
