Moray Guild Douglas

Moray Guild Douglas graduated from the Victorian School of Forestry in 1949 and was first posted to Kinglake West. After a brief time with the Assessment Branch he was moved to the Orbost District in 1951. He was moved to Swifts Creek (then in the Bruthen District) in 1956, and was promoted there as the District Forest Officer for the newly-formed Swifts Creek District in 1960. In 1962 he was appointed the DFO for the Macalister District (Heyfield) then DFO in Mansfield in 1964 and DFO in Mildura in 1967. Moray was promoted to Assistant Divisional Forester in Bairnsdale in 1972, a position he retained until 1983. Moray earned the Diploma of Forestry, Victoria with his thesis: The management of Alpine Ash stands for timber production with emphasis on the economic aspects.

Moray was writing a book that was not quite finished when he died in 2007. That book has now been edited and is available on this site
