Richard Hammond
Richard was born in Iowa, raised in Michigan and earned a degree in Landscape Architecture from Michigan State University, USA. After graduation, he accepted an appointment with the US Peace Corps as an Entomologist assisting in the Malaria Eradication Project in Thailand.
Six years as Forest Landscape Architect with the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, US Forest Service followed.
In 1977, Richard joined the FCV as leader of the newly established Landscape Management Unit of FEAR Branch. A three-year initial employment contract was extended annually. Australian citizenship was granted in 1994 and now Australia can’t get rid of him.
In 1986, he accepted a position as Senior Landscape Architect with the Department of Conservation and Land Management in WA. He resigned in 2001 to join Evolve Solutions, a consultancy firm dealing in project development and visitor services.
Richard is now retired, living happily in Fremantle and is a keen Freo Docker supporter.
