Peter Evans

Peter studied Applied Chemistry at RMIT before running away to the circus, spending the next forty years in the technical side of the theatrical arts.

Roger Smith

Roger was employed in 1958 as a research technician by CSIRO in their Division of Forest Products, and then graduated from the VSF in 1961. After spending 1962 in Biological Survey FCV (mapping phasmatid insects in NE Vic), Roger graduated from Melbourne University in 1964.

Mike Leonard

Mike commenced studies at the VSF in February, 1970. He retired from the then DSE in 2006.

David Drangsholt

David was born in Richmond on 22 April 1937. His early years were spent following his father, Kristian, around the forests of Victoria, until the family finally settled at Buxton. 

Ian Hastings

Ian graduated from the Victorian School of Forestry in 1969 and the University of Melbourne in 1973 with a BScFor (Hons).

Bill Meadows

Bill was bom in 1925 in Melbourne, and grew up on the family farm near Benalla. After completing his secondary education at Benalla High School, Bill entered the VSF in 1942.

Athol Hodgson

Athol graduated from the VSF in 1950 and then worked for the FCV until the mid-1980’s. His key roles in the FCV were as Fire Research Officer, the first officer appointed as OIC of the new Forest Environment and Recreation Branch from 1971, and as a Forests Commissioner.

Bryan Rees

Bryan joined the FCV as a Technical Assistant in the Fire Research Branch in 1976.

Kester Baines

Kester began work for the FCV as a member of the Connors Plain MSC in Dec 1968. He worked with that crew for four summers, finishing as senior leading hand in 1972.

David Williams

David graduated from the VSF in 1969 and Melbourne University in 1973.

Brian Fry

Brian graduated from the VSF in 1961, and from 1962 to 1966 he was posted to both the Swifts Creek and Mansfield Forest Districts, and then to Assessment Branch before spending a year at Rennick.
