"Concern is felt here because of the delay in rehabilitating the unfortunate bush fire victims at Aberfeldy and Woodspoint." |
Walhalla
3 March 1939
Walhalla 'scored' just on eight inches of rain last fall, making more than nine inches for the month. … From a mere trickle, there was a good flood in Stinger’s Creek. It was not a record by any means; the rain was continuous, but steady. ...Some concern is felt here because of the delay in rehabilitating the unfortunate bush fire victims at Aberfeldy and Woodspoint. Out in those high altitudes the weather is severe, and sufferers should get what relief is coming to them before the cold weather sets in. Is it any wonder that some at Woodspoint said they were about ‘fed up’? Much money has been subscribed, and it remains with the administration to get 'a wriggle on'. [NSA, 3/3/39] |
