Bush Fires Enquiry
[at Willowgrove Hall, 28/2]
28 February 1939
Cr E Hunter (shire president) suggested that the Forests Commission would have to amend its policy in respect to the control of bush fires, for the reason that mountain ash country was not what might be termed ‘inflammable’ country. The cause of fires was the dirty condition of land outside the mountain ash areas, and steps to bring about compulsory burning in such areas would have to be taken. The times at which burning should take place in the different parts of the State varied, and this would have to be taken into consideration. [NSA, 28/2/39] |
