Worst Heat Wave in Country Since 1914
7 January 1939
Stock collapsed and fowls dropped dead in the blistering heat at Sea Lake, and bush fires elsewhere threatened a number of properties. Old settlers in these districts cannot recall a similar period of extended heat. Several elderly people have been prostrated and others have come south to the coast for relief. [SNP, 7/1/39] |
