The Boxing Day Sports, in aid of the local hospital, were much enjoyed by all who attended. The day was truly ‘a swelterer’, which may have accounted for the absence of entries for the wood-chopping events. Stringer’s Creek was only ‘a trickle’ – the lowest for 40 years – so swimming was quite out of the question... [NSA 30/12/38] 30 December 1938
The usual dance, to augment hall funds, was held on Boxing Night, and proved successful. The Willowgrove Cricket Club Dance, held on Wednesday, 28th inst., in the Willowgrove Hall, also proved enjoyable. [NSA 30/12/38] |
