"The outbreak could have been a very serious one. Moe is very fortunate in having a fire brigade of which it can feel proud."
The Narracan Shire Advocate

Fires
11 February 1938

Excitement ran high in Moe on Wednesday morning, when the fire bell was rung, and the fire brigade (with its hose and reel) and dozens of townspeople hurried to Saxton’s Seasoning works. A small quantity of petrol in a drum, in the engine-room, which is away from the dry-kilning plant, had become ignited, but was fortunately extinguished by employees before any damage was done.

The outbreak could have been a very serious one, among such a quantity of valuable timber. Moe is very fortunate in having a fire brigade of which it can feel proud.
