The sorption of 2,4,5-T, by LDPE plastic containers. P. Hopmans. July 1975. 5 pp. (unpubl.)
SUMMARY
- The sorption of 2,4,5-T (butyl ester) by low density polyethylene plastic may reach as much as 90% of the initial amount of herbicide after one hour contact time.
- The sorption of 2,4,5-T (butyl ester) by pyrex glass appeared to be relatively small and independent of the contact time.
- Polyethylene bottles are unsuitable containers for monitoring of 2,4,5-T residue levels in stream water. Glass containers seem to be quite suitable although some 2,4,5-T maybe lost through sorption.
